Waterhuis aan de Bierkant
Het Waterhuis aan de Bierkant is another of Ghent's traditional historic pubs,
a 'must' for beer fans and tourists.
Its location right next to the river Leie makes it very popular, especially in the summer when the terrace becomes a true 'hot spot', but there is also a splendid view over the river from the candle-lit bar. A further attractions is the regular performances of the Ghent puppet theatre, which take place upstairs. No visit is complete without having tasted one of the tavern's own brews - Gandavum. Klokke Roeland or Mammelokker. Apart from these, the tavern specialises in Gueuze and Kriek beers.
A PLACE THAT IS WORTH A VISIT!
It may not be the smallest, but it sure is the most peculiar Belgian geneva-café in whole Flanders and surrounding areas. Watch out for Pol, the owner. He looks a bit untidy at first, but once he starts joking, he is rather nice really.
If he's sleeping in his armchair, wake him up carefully, you never know...
With more than 200 kinds of Belgian geneva, a number of which is home-made like the worldfamous VANILLEJENEVER, you have got plenty to choose from. So now, cheers!
